Just before 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, Missoula police officers were patrolling in the 1200 block of West Broadway and recognized a female standing near a casino. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the female had six outstanding warrants.

“They made contact with the female and identified her as 45-year-old Monica Salgado,” Welsh said. “She was placed under arrest for her outstanding warrants. She was transported to the Missoula County Jail where a booking process revealed that she was in possession of drug paraphernalia and an amount of an illegal drug that was later identified as suboxone.”

Salgado is currently being held for felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and six outstanding warrants. Welsh says other officers arrested a separate individual earlier that same morning.

“25-year-old Christopher Howard was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant,” Welsh said. “The officers were previously aware of this warrant and of this individual. They went to a residence in 1300 block of River Street to attempt to locate him. They did find him at the address and he was taken into custody. He was also found to be in possession of drug related materials that were in fact coated with a white powder that subsequently tested positive for methamphetamine.”

Howard is currently being held for possession of drug paraphernalia and felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs, which is his second or subsequent offense.
