MPD Arrest Man for Allegedly Holding a Knife to a Woman’s Throat and Face
At around 7:00 a.m. on Monday, a male called Missoula police and reported he had received some suspicious voicemails from an ex-girlfriend. According to court documents, he told police she was being held hostage by her new boyfriend. He gave her phone number to police and an officer called the woman. When she picked up, she asked law enforcement to “hurry”. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.
“The complainant provided an address and officers responded to that location,” Welsh said. “They made contact with an adult female who reported that she had been involved in an altercation with her male roommate. It was later learned that the two had been involved in an off and on relationship. An argument over the male’s other relationships resulted in threats being made. She reported that he held a knife to her throat and to her face.”
The woman said she did not believe she was going to live through the incident. The man was identified as 38-year-old Jeremy Thompson. Mr. Thompson left the residence, but he was eventually questioned by police. He said a verbal argument occurred. He said he had a pocketknife on him at the time of the argument, but that he did not use it. He was later arrested for felony assault with a weapon and partner or family member assault.
