KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — A motorcyclist was struck and killed in a chain-reaction crash west of Kalispell.

The Montana Highway Patrol says a 50-year-old man was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Farm to Market Road at about 8 p.m. Sunday when he rear-ended a sport utility vehicle that braked suddenly to avoid a deer in the road.

The rider was thrown into the westbound lane with non-fatal injuries. The patrol says about 20 to 30 seconds later he was struck by a westbound pickup truck.

The motorcycle rider died at the scene. His name has not been released.
