University of Montana junior Nicole Ennen was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII women's cross country/track and field team.

Ennen was one of 13 student-athletes named to the second team in District VII, which spans schools across nine states. The 10 members of the district's first team advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America voting.

Ennen, of Bismarck, N.D., has a 4.00 grade point average as a psychology major. She is a five-time Academic All-Big Sky Conference selection and has won the two most recent UM President's Awards, the annual spring awards which go to the male and female student-athletes who have the highest GPAs for the previous spring and fall semesters.

Athletically, Ennen has been an All-Big Sky Conference thrower at the last two outdoor conference championships. She finished third in the discus at the 2010 meet at Ogden, Utah, and second at last month's championships at Sacramento, Calif.

Ennen had a throw of 154-2, a seven-foot personal best to help the Grizzlies to a runner-up team finish.
