Montana PSC’s Molnar Hit Again for Brochures

Public Service Commissioner Brad Molnar of Billings is receiving more sanctions over brochures he used during his 2008 campaign.

A judge recently upheld a $21,000 fine that said Molnar violated ethics laws by using state government equipment for re-election campaign work.

The case stems from the Billings Republican's 2008 campaign, when his opponent charged him of improperly soliciting and receiving $1,000 from PPL Montana and NorthWestern Energy to print brochures for a Billings energy conservation event in 2007.

The Commissioner of Political Practices says in a Wednesday ruling that there is also enough evidence to believe campaign finance laws were broken by not reporting the donations, and not putting a political disclaimer on the brochures.

The commissioner cleared the two companies of any wrongdoing.
