Elections Administrator Bradley Seaman said the all mail-in primary has gone smoothly.

“You know, it’s been really great,” said Seaman. “We’ve had record setting turnout for a primary election. We’ve had our results posted and tabulation has had more robust results at 8:00 p.m. than we’ve ever had, we got in a ton of ballots through our drop-off location or at our election center. We were able to coordinate really well to keep our lines and wait times down all day.”

Seaman said there was one drawback to the all mail primary election.

“One of the things that was a little bit harder with this was that since it was an all mail ballot election, we had a lot of undeliverable ballots,” he said. “We worked hard to notify those voters who were in Missoula County but were a little transient in nature, so we always had a little higher numbers, but this has been higher than normal. The benefit is that everybody got a ballot mailed to them on May 8th so that time to make an informed decision has really paid off, and I’ll tell you want, in the last few days we’ve processed thousands of ballots.”

Seaman revealed the voter turnout numbers for this primary election as of 8:00 p.m.

“So our voter turnout numbers, our ballot return rates have cleared 60 percent,” he said. “Our voter turnout’s a little bit lower because we have those inactive voters as well as those undeliverables. At my last report result we were over 50 percent so things are really great and we’re just getting in and processing through all of our ballots now.”

The 2 cents per gallon gas tax as of 10:00 p.m. is 50 percent for and 49 percent against.

As of 8:00 p.m. the major races will be Trump v Biden, Bullock v Daines, Cooney v Gianforte, and Williams v Rosendale.
