Regardless of the season, hunting is never too far from the minds of lots of Montanans.

And while this type of application process may not be appealing to some, we wanted to make sure you knew what the window to apply is for "game damage" hunts on private land or possible management seasons.

From June 15 till July 15, you can register online with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Application info is available here. Keep in mind these are not being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. They will be randomized at the end of the open registration period.  So don't feel like you have to get online one minute after midnight on June 15 to have a chance. :-)

Hunters can register for one district per species. A final roster of registrants will be available July 20. You'll be able to go to the FWP website to check your position on the roster. The hunts, if they occur, would likely take place between August 15, 2017 and February 15, 2018.

If this appeals to you, best of luck and good hunting.
