Montana gas prices keep plummeting and the state average is now fallen below the $3.00 per gallon bench mark.

"It's been another good week for motorists," Gasbuddy.com Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan said. "Average prices have declined from $3.04 per gallon a week ago, all the way down under $3.00 per gallon and they currently sit at $2.97 per gallon at this moment. Prices across the state in some places down in the $2.80s. Helena at $2.84 per gallon, Billings at $2.85, and Missoula at $2.86."

Montana prices haven’t yet matched the lows hit by most of the rest of the country, but they are expected to keep falling for quite some time.

"Well, it may actually be a little bit later," DeHaan said. "Montana motorists should be seeing prices drop for a good portion of the rest of the year. The lowest price may not be seen until sometime in January."

So far, Montana prices have fallen over 20 cents per gallon in just one month.
