Montana Election Law

The Senate has voted against a measure that would let voters decide whether to change Montana election law, to require a run-off, in a general election, if no candidate received a majority. Senate Minority Leader Carol Williams says the change would discriminate against minority candidates.

Bill sponsor Joe Balyeat says majority rule is the fair way to go.
