The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 18 new criminal complaints this week, which is five less than last week and higher than the weekly average. On Friday’s Talk Back show, County Attorney Kirsten provided her report and began with the number of violent crimes that occurred.

“There were a handful of partner or family member assaults, one included an assault on a minor as well as an assault with a weapon,” Pabst said. “We also charged a burglary and assault case. We charged an aggravated assault case that involved an attack on another inmate at the Missoula County Detention Center, as well as an arson.”

In that arson case, the defendant was also charged with burglary. In addition, Pabst said her office charged one defendant with felony DUI. There was another case that involved eluding, driving while suspended, and resisting arrest.

“In the property crimes group, we charged a handful of theft cases and some burglaries. One involved a stolen camper and the other involved breaking into a local sporting goods store. Another involved false claims to a public agency. In that case, the allegation is that the person provided false information to get workers' compensation benefits. There was also a theft case where the defendant stole tools from their employer. In the drug category, we charged a case involving possession of meth and a handgun.”

Finally, Pabst said they charged custodial interference after an Amber Alert was issued for a missing child. You can listen to Pabst's full report below.
