Missoula Man Found Unconscious in Car With Drugs at Rose Park
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On August 18, 2024, Missoula Police Department Officers responded to Rose Park for a report that a male was passed out behind the wheel of a running vehicle. There was an unsheathed knife within his reach. Officers were able to wake the male and identified him as 31-year-old Ivan Bobko. Bobko was dazed but advised he was diabetic and was having issues.
Bobko exited the vehicle and was struggling with balance. Inside the vehicle were insulin injectors. Officers were concerned for his medical well-being and requested EMS. There was also an open alcoholic beverage on the front passenger seat and a piece of foil in the center compartment of the vehicle.
In the center of the foil was a small blue circular pill melted to the foil. Officers identified this as suspected fentanyl based on their training and experience. There was a small hollowed-out pen next to the foil, which is commonly used to ingest dangerous drugs. There was a rolled-up $5 bill in the door and several other pieces of burnt foil.
The officer asked Bobko if he had anything to drink that day and if he had ingested any drugs. Bobko denied. Bobko was on probation but said the vehicle was not his. However, he did say he had been using the vehicle for some time.
An on-call probation officer requested a search of the vehicle. Officers located more foil and hollowed-out pens and in the ashtray was another blue “M30” pill consistent with fentanyl. There was a bottle of gabapentin not prescribed to Bobko and a large amount of cash in the vehicle stuffed in a stocking cap.

Bobko was transported to the hospital and was having a blood sugar spike. According to court documents, Bobko was advised of his rights and stated that he last drank alcohol at 6:30 AM that day and had not used meth or fentanyl since the day before. Once his blood sugar was stabilized, he was run through field sobriety tests and did not show signs of impairment.
Bobko was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. He is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and his case was filed directly into District Court.
