I had the opportunity to go watch the crosstown basketball games over at Hellgate High School last night. The Knights were taking on Big Sky in a girls'-boys' varsity double-header.

I arrived shortly after the boys' contest began, and struggled to find an open seat. I'm not sure what the Hellgate gymnasium max capacity is, but I'm sure the fans who packed the bleachers last night were close to the mark.
Seeing both Big Sky's and Hellgate's student sections in full roar made me wonder; which Class AA school in Missoula boasts the loudest, most supportive fans?
After last night's performance, the Hellgate faithful have taken the top spot in my opinion. The students executed a successful "white-out" (every student wore a white shirt, which can be destracting to the players on the court), and came up with several clever cheers throughout the course of the game.
Sentinel checks in at #2 on my early list. The Spartans faced Big Sky in the Eagles' gym earlier this year, and produced a bigger crowd than the home team. That's not an easy accomplishment. Sentinel has a chance to leapfrog Hellgate with a strong showing at home tomorrow night against the Knights.
Big Sky sits third right now. The Eagles' crowd has been very spirited so far, but with just two crosstown matches remaining, the Big Sky supporters need to pull out all the stops.
What do you think? Which student section is the best in Missoula?
