Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On January 13, 2025, the Missoula Police Department sent out a statement requesting more information about a traffic incident that occurred the night before. Police Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett has the details.

“The Missoula Police Department is investigating a serious incident involving a suspected impaired driver that occurred on Sunday, January 12, 2025, just before 10:30 PM,” Bennett said. “An officer attempted a traffic stop near Brooks Street and Garfield, but the driver of a white Chrysler 300 failed to stop. The vehicle continued northbound on Russell Street at a high rate of speed, disregarding stop signs and failing to yield to traffic.”

During the pursuit, Bennett said the vehicle drove into oncoming traffic near the 1400 block of Russell Street, forcing two southbound vehicles off the road to avoid a collision.

“The driver also nearly struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk at the intersection of North Russell and South 1st Street West,” Bennett said. “The pursuit ended when the vehicle lost control near the intersection, and the driver was taken into custody. The driver faces multiple charges, including Driving While Under the Influence (2nd offense), Fleeing or Eluding a Peace Officer, Criminal Endangerment, Criminal Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Displaying Fictitious or Altered Plates, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Operating Without Liability Insurance, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, and various traffic violations.”
