Missoula Police Arrest Man for Felony Strangulation and Assault
At around 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, Missoula police received a phone call from an adult female in Butte. The female requested a welfare check on her adult daughter who was residing in Missoula at the time. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.
“She reported that she received a text from her daughter at around 2:00 a.m. stating that she had been in some kind of a physical altercation with her husband and that she had been assaulted,” Welsh said. “The complainant did not know the address where this was occurring or where the couple lived in Missoula, but felt is was somewhere over by the mall.”
Throughout the day, officers continued to try to discover where this couple resided and officers eventually learned that the female worked in Missoula. At around 3:00 p.m., an officer made contact with the female at her place of business.
“The female related that she had been in a disturbance with her husband after they had been out drinking with another male the night before,” Welsh said. “An argument began over accused infidelity and that escalated into a physical altercation. The female reported to the officer that her husband had wrapped an arm around her throat area, restricting her breathing. At that point, she did not know where he was at specifically.”
At around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, officers went to the couple’s residence and located the male. Officers placed 32-year-old Zachery Kunz under arrest for felony strangulation and partner or family member assault.
