Missoula Man Tries to Cash a Stolen Check While in Possession of Drugs
At around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Missoula Police were called to a business in the 2100 block of Stephens Avenue. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, a male was attempting to cash a stolen check.
“The male was identified as 34-year-old Kale Lachance,” Welsh said. “Mr. Lachance had been a suspect in previous cases that were similar in nature and officers were familiar with him. When they responded, they made contact with the complaint and Mr. Lachance. They discovered the check he was trying to cash was indeed reported stolen.”
Welsh says officers continued their investigation and discovered that Mr. Lachance was also in possession of other criminal items.
“Mr. Lachance had other items on his person that were connected to previous crimes that were similar in nature and items of narcotics that were illegal,” Welsh said. “Mr. Lachance was found to have a small amount of marijuana, methamphetamine and heroin.”
Mr. Lachance is currently being held for theft, criminal possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, forgery, and seven outstanding warrants.
