Missoula Crime Report – Only 6 New Criminal Complaints Were Filed This Week
Crime numbers were surprisingly low this past week in Missoula. Jason Marks is the Chief Deputy County Attorney for the Missoula County Attorney’s Office and he explained what happened.
“We only had six this week,” Marks said. “Unfortunately, one of those was a vehicular homicide for a DUI crash up by Seeley Lake. Mainly what we’ve got going on in the office is the Hardy trial that is going on right now. We also have a bunch of people at various trainings.”
Marks says there was a domestic violence case, a couple drug cases, and one probationer tried to use someone else’s urine to pass a drug test. Marks also talked a little bit about a new program called Project Safe Neighborhoods.
“It is really helping coordinate different agencies so we can target some of the more problematic individuals in our community that are very involved with methamphetamine and violent crime,” Marks said. “It is our office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, Federal Law Enforcement Agencies, Probation Parole, really pretty much everyone we could think of.”
According to Marks, PSN is trying to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in a community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.
