Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 13 new criminal complaints this week, which is five less than last week and closer to what the weekly average used to be. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, four of those cases involved some form of violence.

“One of those was an assault with a weapon,” Pabst said. “That defendant allegedly struck his girlfriend in the head with a hammer. There was an assault on a minor times two. In that case, a grandmother allegedly assaulted two young children. We charged an intimidation as well as a robbery that involved an assault and an alleged taking of one's wallet.”

In addition, Pabst said her office charged two new felony DUI cases.

“In the property crimes category, there was a burglary plus a theft,” Pabst said. “The defendant allegedly took some keys and then the motor vehicle of an acquaintance. In another case, the allegation is that the defendant was car hopping, entering vehicles and stealing things, outside the home of a sheriff’s deputy, allegedly.”

Pabst said the deputy came out and tackled the defendant until on-duty law enforcement arrived.

“In the drug category, we charged two methamphetamine cases as well as two fentanyl cases,” Pabst said. “In the administrative crimes, there was a failure to register as a sexual offender.”

Pabst also mentioned that her office is still in the middle of the Covey trial and that they are hoping to wrap that up sometime next week. Pabst provides her weekly crime report every Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. during KGVO’s Talk Back show.
