Missoula County is currently accepting applications for new detention officers. Training Supervisor Jeff Rodrick explains how people can apply.

“Starting January 3 through February 1 we are doing our spring recruitment for new detention officers,” said Rodrick. “They have to go through the Missoula County website to job postings and they can apply there. They have to do what we call, prove it tests through the job service. Then they will have a written test and a final interview which is scheduled for February 13.”

Rodrick says new employees will become part of a large team and that there are multiple positions available.

“There are so many different varieties of jobs,” Rodrick said. “You are going to be part of a team. We have approximately 105 employees out here that work at either the adult or juvenile facility. It is anything from booking, to transport, to just mainly supervision of inmates. We have paid vacation, paid sick leave, personal parental leave, plus full medical benefits. It is a full time position.”

An applicant would need to pass a medical test and have a clean criminal history in order to be considered for the position.
