Kiomi Glenn, my Garden of Read'n manager is currently in Costa Rica fighting a political and financial battle to get her cousin Carmen released and brought back to the United States.

Here is a message from Carmen's sister, Noel...

4/6/2011 My sister Carmen Hauck, High School science teacher at Big Sky High took a group of students to Costa Rica to study sea turtles. She was not well by the time the plane landed in Costa Rica. She has been in the ICU in Costa Rica since Sunday. We have been provided no information. What happened to her is unknown. My cousin Kiomi flew to Costa Rica Monday and has not been allowed to see her or have any contact with doctors. She has an appointment to talk to a doctor tomorrow, but has been informed that she will not be allowed to see Carmen and they don't expect there to be any change for at least 1-2 weeks. Med Escort says it's odd that the Embassy hasn't even been allowed to see Carmen and she needs to get out of there because it's unknown what they are doing with/to her for treatment. Between Med Escort, the Embassy and Kiomi's authorization to make family decisions - they can demand Carmen's release for travel via Air Ambulance. The cost to fly her to Jackson Memorial in Miami is $27,000. The flight will be 2-1/2 hours and safest for Carmen. The cost to fly Carmen to Missoula is $49,000 and 12 hours, more risk. If anyone has an idea for a fund raiser, please let me know. We will have an account for donations set up tomorrow morning (Thursday 4/7/2011) at Gateway Community Federal Credit Union for Carmen Hauck             (406) 728-4475      , 2300 Great Northern Way, Missoula, Montana, 59808. Thank you. Noel Moon
