Man Thought Drowned Actually Living On Island

A woman and her son called authorities Thursday afternoon to report a man waving from what they thought was the swolen Clark Fork River. Sergeant Rick Stevenson with the Missoula Police Department says the man was actually a transient living in a tent on an island in the river. Sergeant Stevenson's remarks are attached.

Stevenson says there was no evidence of anyone in distress in the river after an extensive search earlier in the day.
