Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On October 27, 2022, a local business reported to law enforcement that a suspect male stole a silencer/suppressor and a gun sight from their store. A Missoula Police Department officer responded to the business and spoke to two employees. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold has more.

“Dylan Johnson had come into the business and ordered a gun stock,” Arnold said. “When he made the order, he provided his name to the business. Video surveillance shows Johnson crouching down in front of a display case and concealing the items. Johnson was no longer on the scene when the incident was reported.”

The employee also gave the officer the phone number Johnson provided. On November 4, 2022, an officer located Johnson at a store in Southgate Mall.

“Officers located Johnson and he was taken into custody,” Arnold said. “During the investigation, officers learned that one of the items was pawned and the other item was in Johnson’s tent site. Officers obtained a search warrant for the tent site and located the stolen item.”

According to court documents, Johnson admitted that he pawned the gun sight at a local pawn shop. The silencer/suppressor was the item that was located inside the tent.

An employee told the officer that the gun sight is worth $549 and the silencer/suppressor is worth $1,500. As a result, Johnson is currently being charged with one count of felony theft because the items he stole exceed $1,500 in total.
