Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - During the late hour of January 7, 2025, Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to a disturbance on Wyoming Street. The complainant reported she heard a male “talking about smoking fentanyl.” The complainant also said she believed a physical disturbance ensued between a male and female and a child was also on scene.
Several officers responded to the area and located two males. An officer who arrived first explained the reason for police contact to the males. The officer instructed Burghduff to not enter the vehicle for safety reasons and to further conduct the investigation.
Burghduff then fled on foot from the officer. The officer attempted to catch Burghduff and gave verbal commands for him to stop. Eventually, the officer removed his department issued Taser and warned Burghduff to stop or he would be tased. It was at this point Burghduff stopped running and was arrested for obstructing.
During a search incident to arrest, officers located a lighter and a glass pipe with a brown residue inside of the bowl in Burghduff’s possession. Burghduff was asked his name and refused to provide it, but officers were able to locate an identification card in his wallet.
Burghduff was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. During the booking process, jail staff located two baggies on Burghduff’s person. One baggie contained a white crystal-like substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine. The other baggie contained a brown powdery substance believed to be either powder fentanyl or heroin.
