Man agrees To Plead Guilty In Pit Bull Attack

A 59-year-old Anaconda man has agreed to plead guilty to four charges filed after his pit bull crossbreed dogs entered another house and killed five cats. John Griswold reached the plea agreement Thursday after two witnesses testified at a bench trial in Justice Court in Anaconda.

Under the deal, Griswold would plead guilty to two counts of owning a nuisance animal and two counts of letting his dogs run at large. He would be given a one-year suspended jail sentence and pay over $1,700 in restitution and fines. He is scheduled to change his plea on Tuesday. Prosecutors allege Griswold's dogs jumped into a fenced yard on April 7, entered a house through a pet door and attacked the cats. The dogs were euthanized.
