The Bitterroot Valley's favorite ski area, Lost Trail Powder Mountain, has started its annual "Open Every Day" schedule from now until January 6th ... that includes Christmas Day and New Years Day. Believe it or not, this is their 80th year of operation. Get someone to tell you the stories of those first years. They had creative ways to get up the mountain.

The ski hill reports 16 inches of new snow for the week ending on December 21, with 4 inches of fresh powder Friday morning. The base at the top of the mountain is 22 inches, with 20 inches at the lodge. The forecast indicates more snow is on the way, too. Chairs 1,2 and 4 were running December 21st, along with the rope tows. Special activities include Girls On Shred December 30. Get your boards and skis up the hill! After January 6th, the ski area will be open Thursdays through Sundays. And coming up at the end of January - Special Winter Olympics.
