Montana had several opportunities to score last night and took full advantage, cashing in for a 88-79 road win over Sacramento State. The Lady Griz shot 46.6% from the field in the fast-paced contest.
Montana jumped out to a quick 17-9 lead and never looked back. The Hornets then mounted a rally to close the gap to 28-25 with about eight minutes left in the first half. The Lady Griz then used a 26-11 run to grab a 54-36 halftime lead. The second-half saw the Lady Griz continue to stay in command building a 74-53 lead with just over 11 minutes left in the game. Sacramento State made one last charge, pulling to within seven, 86-79 with 12 seconds left. Katie Baker would end the game with a lay-up and led Montana in scoring with 22points. Torry Hill contributed a career-high 19 points to Montana’s offensive attack.
The Lady Griz are now in a three way tie for second place in the Big Sky Standings with Montana State and Eastern Washington. Montana is 4-2 in league and 11-8 overall. The Lady Griz will face Eastern Washington on Thursday at Dahlberg Arena.
