The Governor signed SB 319 at a ceremony at noon today in Helena thus returning Montana's Child Restraint Law to primary enforcement.  This means that it is a primary traffic offense if children under 6 years of age and 60 pounds or less are not properly restrained in a motor vehicle. I spoke with Steve Yeakal with the Montana Seat Belt Coalition about the bill and it's impact on child safety..

Please note that anyone ticketed for lack of proper child restraint can have the offense removed from their record if they install proper safety seats within 7 days.
