Griz Athletics Secures $1M Gift for Major Gym Renovations

The University of Montana has made several moves in its master plan of updating the athletics facilities. The bubble was erected (multiple times), the Lady Griz locker room is near completion (I am trying to set up a tour of the locker room for a gallery, so stay tuned), and now the U will revamp its auxiliary gyms.

Griz Athletics announced a huge donation to fund the West Auxiliary Gym (WAG) and East Auxiliary Gym (EAG) renovations.

The EAG and WAG serve as practice facilities for both Grizzly basketball teams and the volleyball team, and they also host events such as National Girls & Women in Sports Day and youth basketball camps and tournaments.

I won't lie to you. The Aux Gyms could definitely use an upgrade. They aren’t dilapidated, but they are overdue for a modern refresh. There will be several upgrades:

• New hardwood floors
• New scoreboards
• New shot clocks
• New baskets
• New aesthetics (paint, graphics)
• Air conditioning

I think the players will love the air conditioning the most out of all the renovations.
