Is Your Home in the Path of 100 Year Flood?

Some are calling our current predicament in much of Montana a "100-year flood."

What is a "100 year flood?"

According to the USGS:

The term "100-year flood" is used in an attempt to simplify the definition of a flood that statistically has a 1-percent chance of occurring in any given year. Likewise, the term "100-year storm" is used to define a rainfall event that statistically has this same 1-percent chance of occurring.

So, even if you don't have river frontage property, there is still a chance you might be in the path of a catastrophic flood. Thankfully FEMA has an interactive map that can point out what your flood risks are for your home's address.
