Lewis and Clark Elementary, is one of the largest elementary schools in Missoula, serving more than 460 students. Parents of the students have been working since 2009 to raise funds for much needed improvements to the current playground. Last year the school did a Walk-a-thon that raised over $6,500. This years goal  is to raise $20,000. Playground improvement committee chair, Meg Traci says the playground in more than 50 years old.

The new equipment and landscaping will cost close to $150,000. So far they have raised $80,000. The students have been gathering pledges for the 2011 Walk-a-thon  and will walk their 2.3 miles on June 3rd. For more information or to sponsor a class with a matching pledge  you can call 542-4035.
