With 24/7 news coverage and dire warnings, Hurricane Irene came ashore Saturday and was reduced to a tropical storm by Saturday night. Still thousands are without power and up till Sunday morning, 10 deaths had been attributed to the storm.

Parts of New York City were evacuated for the first time in history, although many decided to stay and ride the storm out. Irene is expected to cause heavy rains and strong winds all the way up the eastern seaboard.
