The massive highway bill has passed Congress and been sent to President Obama for his signature. Montana Senator Max Baucus says the bill not only provides thousands of highway jobs for the state, but included in the bill was a provision to prevent a rate hike for student loans.

The highway bill also includes reauthorization of flood insurance, which was set to expire on July 31st. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers will change its inspection practice so it can certify Montana levees. The bill also included funds for the Secure Rural Schools program and the Payment in Lieu of Taxes program.
