Helena Capital senior Caleb Kidder is Montana's Gatorade football player of the year.

 

The award recognizes outstanding athletic excellence along with academic achievement and exemplary character. Kidder is the fifth Gatorade football player chosen from Capital High.

Kidder, a guard and defensive end, helped the Capital Bruins to a 12-1 record at the state Class AA football championship this fall. He had 97 tackles, 13 sacks, 11 tackles for a loss and six forced fumbles for the Capital defense, along with 45 pancake blocks on offense.

Kidder has a 3.71 grade point average and has volunteered on behalf of local flood relief, youth sports programs and a school anti-drug initiative.

Kidder has verbally committed to playing football at the University of Montana starting next fall.
