Several wildfires are burning across Montana after a cool, wet spring delayed the state's fire season.

A 1,000-acre blaze that started Wednesday is burning in the Black Canyon area of Big Horn County. Three structures are being threatened by the fire five miles southwest of Fort Smith.

Meanwhile, a fire in northwestern Montana has burned 450 acres of state and U.S. Forest Service land southeast of Swan Lake.

Smoke from the South Fork Lost Creek Fire is visible from the lake, but no structures are threatened.

Officials say a 140-acre fire in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Area has closed some trails, and a Flathead National Forest spokeswoman says the blaze is moderate. Farther south, crews were able to hold a weekend wildfire near Seeley Lake to 23 acres.
