Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 12, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Missoula Police Department officers responded to a disturbance in the 2200 block of W Kent Ave involving yelling and reports of a male brandishing a firearm. The suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Dallas Heinrich, was described as wearing blue shorts, no shirt, and no shoes, and was associated with a white 2000 Dodge 3500 van parked nearby.

An officer arrived to find Heinrich being detained outside the van. A female occupant was still inside the vehicle. Due to reports that a weapon had been used, officers secured both Heinrich and the female without incident.

According to court documents, Heinrich voluntarily stated, “I have a CO₂ gun but I don’t even have it anymore,” and later denied possessing any firearm or replica that night. He was arrested after being mirandized.

Witness accounts corroborated the presence of a weapon. A resident of the address where the van was parked in front of stated that his wife, Jane Doe, had a verbal altercation with Heinrich. Heinrich allegedly exited the van, called Doe a derogatory name, and brandished what appeared to be a black handgun. Doe reportedly shouted for someone to call 911.

Two independent witnesses both confirmed seeing Heinrich draw a pistol. One describes Heinrich removing the magazine before walking westbound. Another stated he watched Heinrich hold the firearm in the street, disassemble it while proclaiming it was a BB or pellet gun, and walk westbound before returning minutes later, likely taking the alley to evade discovery. In total, at least four separate eyewitnesses saw Heinrich with a firearm.

Dispatch recorded Heinrich walking westbound at 9:32 p.m., and officers conducted a stop upon his return. However, no weapon was in his possession. A search of nearby streets, alleys, and the property in the 2200 block of W Kent Ave failed to recover a firearm. Officers canvassed doorbell-camera footage and checked premises with consent but found no evidence of a discarded weapon. Heinrich’s van was seized as evidence and towed.

Heinrich was arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. He is currently being charged with felony assault with a weapon and felony tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. His bond was set at $25,000.
