Drawing For Student Built House Delayed [AUDIO]
Hang on to your tickets for the student-built house, because organizers have had to delay the drawing.
Michelle Felde, chair of the Building Futures Program announced on Friday that the minimum number of tickets had not yet been sold, so the drawing for the student-built house has been delayed indefinitely.
At least 3,000 tickets need to be sold for the program to break even and begin preparing for the next project before a winner can be announced.
This year's home on Jeff Drive in the Upper Miller Creek area, is a single level, 3-bedroom, 2-bath home that would easily retail for over $300,000, but is being raffled off for just $100 per ticket.
The home has been built primarily with student labor, along with licensed contractors to do the electrical, plumbing and other specialized work. Much of the materials have been donated by local businesses and professional builders have also donated a great deal of time and expertise in finishing the home.
The $100 tickets are available at numerous locations around town,as well as on-line at the Missoula Building Industry Association website.
Once enough tickets are sold, Felde says the drawing would take place shortly after, perhaps even in time for Christmas. What a nice stocking stuffer...a new home for Christmas!
