Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On March 12, 2025, a Missoula Police Department Officer noticed a Durango that had an expired registration sticker on the license plate. The officer initiated a traffic stop and caught up to the Durango at the intersection of Eaton Street and South 10th Street West. The Durango turned and began to accelerate. The Durango reached 50 mph by the intersection of Schilling Street before turning south on Kemp Street. While doing so, the Durango failed to stop at a stop sign. At this point, the officer activated his patrol vehicle’s sirens and was in pursuit.

The Durango continued on Kemp Street splitting two vehicles and reached speeds near 80 mph, which was clearly above the speed limit of 25 mph. The officer was going 70 mph and observed the Durango gaining distance on him. The Durango then failed to stop at two other stop signs.

Eventually, the Durango entered the mall parking lot and evaded the officer. While passing the Scheel’s entrance, two pedestrians pointed towards the alley behind the AMC Movie Theater. The officer went down the alley but did not see the vehicle. Then the officer located the vehicle parked behind the Mustard Seed, but it was unoccupied.

Officer Locates Drug Paraphernalia

The officer exited his patrol vehicle and observed a clear hollow straw that appeared to be made from glass in the center console that appeared to have residue in it. The officer contacted a tow truck to seize the vehicle due to drug paraphernalia being in plain view.

Other officers arrived on scene and searched for the suspect, but they were unsuccessful. Bystanders indicated that the suspect, who was later identified as 45-year-old Dane Kenmille, was dressed in all black and had fled the area.

About 45 minutes later, the officer located a Kenmille near the bus stop on Russell Street. The officer turned on his emergency lights and observed Kenmille running away. The officer exited his vehicle and began a foot pursuit.

Given the original callout of criminal endangerment, the officer unholstered his Conducted Energy Weapon and told Kenmille to get on the ground. According to court documents, Kenmille responded, “why?” and refused to comply. The officer deployed his taser with no connection. The officer reloaded his taser and deployed a second cartridge with no full connection. At that point, Kenmille got on the ground on his stomach and started complying with commands. Kenmille was ultimately placed into handcuffs and arrested.

After assisting with removing the taser probe, an officer collected various items on the ground that were removed from Kenmille, including a wad of cash, a cellphone, and car keys. The total amount of cash was $1,111. The cash and cellphone were seized pending further investigation. Additionally, one of the key fobs was for a Dodge. The officer also located bundled up tinfoil in Kenmille’s belongings.

An officer reviewed dispatch notes and discovered a 911 caller contacted dispatch and reported that the Durango almost hit pedestrians. The officer also determined that Kenmille’s driver’s license was suspended and he had a warrant out for his arrest.

Kenmille was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. He is currently being charged with felony criminal endangerment, fleeing from a peace officer, operating a motor vehicle with expired registration, failure to stop at a stop sign, speeding, driving with a suspended license, and obstructing a peace officer. His bond was set at $250,000.
