Colstrip city officials say that police chief Larry Reinlasoder has been placed on administrative leave after a city employee filed a complaint against him.

City Attorney Gary Ryder confirmed to the Billings Gazette that Reinlasoder was placed on leave with pay on Tuesday after the workplace complaint was filed.

Ryder did not detail the allegations in the complaint nor did he say who filed it.

Ryder says the city plans to hire an outside investigator and that the investigation should not take longer than two weeks.

Reinlasoder was hired as Colstrip's chief in 2004.

He retired as a lieutenant with the Billings Police Department in 2001 while facing disciplinary action for unethical conduct for improper use of city time and equipment.
