Dr. Stephen Tahta grew up in Montreal, Canada. He went to medical school at McGill University and went on to receive training in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery at McGill. He moved to Montana to learn more about heart valve surgery from well-known experts Carlos Duran and Jim Oury who were at the time working at ST. Patrick  Hospital. In 2012, Stephen moved his practice to Community Medical Center and started the lung cancer program and general thoracic surgery service. He developed the only robotic thoracic surgery program in Missoula. He helped Community start the first lung screening program in Missoula, and lunge nodule clinic. He is the chair of surgery at Community and in 2016 received his MBA from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.
