California Man In Jail On $20,000 Bond After Two Alleged Car Thefts
A 26 year-old California man, Caesar Jesus Reyes, is in the Missoula County Jail after being arrested in Idaho with items allegedly stolen from a vehicle he took from a grocery store parking lot in Missoula.
According to court documents, Reyes was allegedly involved in stealing a Jeep from the Russell Street Albertson's parking lot on August 26th, then abandoning the vehicle after stealing several valuable items.
Deputy Missoula County Attorney Selene Koepke said Reyes has been charged with multiple car thefts.
"The state is recommending $20,000 bond in each case," Koepke said. "He's charged with felony theft for one after smashing out the window of someone's truck and stealing almost $7,000 worth of property. In the other case, he's charged with felony theft for stealing a car and all the items in it. In that case he was picked up in Idaho with a different stolen car and all of the items from the first stolen car still inside. The state believes he is a danger to the community after having stolen several cars and is clearly a flight risk."
Judge Orzech agreed, and set bail at $20,000 for each case. Reyes was remanded back to the Missoula County Jail and his next court appearance will be April 14.
