Missoula Man Under the Influence Drives Into Oncoming Traffic on Broadway
At around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, a Missoula Police officer observed a vehicle suddenly pull into the middle lane from a line of traffic in the 800 block of West Broadway near Fresh Market. The vehicle partially drifted into the eastbound lane of traffic meaning there were vehicle directly coming at the moving vehicle. It then corrected and passed two vehicles that were driving in the single westbound lane. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold explains.
“An officer who was responding for a call for service observed a vehicle drifting in and out of traffic, almost hitting oncoming traffic, and travelling approximately 80 mile per hour, which is well over the posted speed limit,” Arnold said. “The officer pulled over because he was concerned the driver, 23-year-old Bohdin Mozeleski, was going to drift into traffic and hit their patrol vehicle and other passing vehicles head on.”
The vehicle slowed down to approximately 60 miles per hour as it approached in the intersection of West Broadway, Toole Avenue, and California Street.
“Mozeleski continued to drive in the middle of the road,” Arnold said. “The officer conducted a traffic stop, activating his overhead emergency lights and sirens. When the vehicle came to a stop, the officer made contact with the driver. The officer immediately observed indicators of impairment consistent with alcohol.”
Court documents indicate the officer also saw a large half consumed bottle of tequila in the front center cup holder of the vehicle.
“Officers had Mozeleski exit the vehicle in order to conduct the standard field sobriety to test to make sure Mozeleski was safe to be operating the motor vehicle,” Arnold said. “Mozeleski became combative and uncooperative with officer. Mozeleski continued to be confrontational with officers on scene so he was transported to the Missoula County Jail. He continued to be confrontational with the staff at the jail.”
Mozeleski is currently being charged with felony criminal endangerment and driving under the influence. This is Mozeleski’s first DUI offense.
