The Billings City Council has adopted an emergency ordinance that bans the storefront sale of medical marijuana.
The council voted 9-1 Tuesday night after hearing about an hour of testimony from nearly 30 people on both sides of the issue. The ordinance will go into effect Wednesday.

Police are looking for a man who was involved in the armed robbery of a Helena pharmacy.
Lt. Corey Livesay says the suspect, a middle-aged white man with a stocking over his face, entered Bergum Drug on Winne Avenue with a gun just before 5:45 p.m. Tuesday and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and prescription medication.
Woman Killed In Rafting Accident On Blackfoot River
Authorities say a woman in her 60s was killed in a rafting accident on the swollen Blackfoot River near Missoula.
Missoula County Sheriff's Detective Jason Johnson says the woman fell into the river when the raft she was in hit a rapid near the Paws Up resort at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses saw the woman a short time later floating face down in the river.
