Two transients, 33 year-old Kewan Freeman and 18 year-old Kyle Johnson, both appeared in Missoula Justice Court on Friday, charged with burglary.

Deputy County Attorney Brittany Santorno asked Judge Marie Anderson for $25,000 bond for Freeman, and $15,000 for Johnson.

Regarding Freeman:

"This defendant and his co-defendant broke into a Missoula home and stole multiple i-pads and some high-end camera equipment valued at over $8,000," Santorno said. "The defendant is transient and police found him sleeping in Kiwanis Park. He has no ties to Missoula and has an extended criminal history out of California."

And for Johnson:

"Judge, this is the co-defendant for Mr, Freeman," she said. "The defendant does not have a residence himself, he is a transient and he was also found sleeping in Kiwanis Park. Our recommendation is that his bail be set at $15,000, and that with the conditions that he have no contact with the victim or his co-defendant."

The two defendants are also suspected of several other burglaries that have occurred over the past few weeks, and police detectives are looking into those incidents, as well, so more charges could be pending for Freeman and Johnson.

Judge Anderson set bail for both men at $5,000 and imposed the requested restrictions. Both men were returned to he Missoula County Jail. Their next court appearances will be on August 15.
