25 year-old Michael Pirker is in the Missoula County Jail on $10,000 bond charged with felony assault with a weapon after allegedly threatening his former girlfriend with a knife.

Pirker appeared before substitute Justice of the Peace Paul Ryan on Thursday via video from the Missoula County Jail.

Deputy County Attorney Meghann Paddock spoke for the State.

“In this case, the state is asking for bond of $10,000,” said Paddock. “According to court documents, the defendant would not leave his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. He had a knife in his hand and approached her and said he was going to stab her with it. The state has some concern about his mental health and whether he is taking his prescribed medication. The PSA came back with a passive 1 recommendation. The defendant has some criminal history including a misdemeanor theft conviction from 2014, criminal possession of dangerous drugs from 2015 and 2016, he has three for driving while suspended or revoked, as well as failure to appear convictions from 2014 and 2017.”

Judge Ryan set bail at $10,000 and ordered Pirker to appear for a preliminary hearing on May 4.
