Thursday evening, October 17, a Montana Rail Link locomotive was slightly damaged when it ran into an obstruction that had been deliberately placed in its path on the railroad tracks near Clinton.

Public Information Officer for Montana Rail Link Linda Frost said on Friday, September 6, that the tracks closed by Wednesday morning's derailment were reopened late Friday morning.
A transient from Philipsburg has been identified as the man who stood in the path of an oncoming Montana Rail Link train Monday evening near the Deer Creek shooting range, and was struck and killed without attempting to get out of the way.
