A resolution was passed at Monday night's Missoula City Council meeting asking the Army Corps of Engineers to look into the environmental dangers of coal trains heading through Missoula on their way to the west coast to be shipped to China.

Director of Sales and Marketing at Montana Rail Link Jim Lewis explains his company's role in shipping coal and all the precautions taken by BNSF and Rail Link to keep environmental risks to an absolute minimum. Lewis also talks about the wages paid to employees and the property taxes paid to Missoula County and the State of Montana. Lewis also wonders if there would be equal protests if the trains were hauling windmill blades or solar panels. Comments from Lewis are below.
