Democrats who were in control of the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate and the White House failed to produce a budget for fiscal year 2011. Continuing resolutions to fund the operations of the federal government have been a solution to this point. Now with a shutdown pending and no agreement in sight the discussion has turned to whom should or should not be paid. Montana democrats say Congressman Denny Rehberg voted to keep paying himself during a government shutdown. Party spokesman Chris Saeger says he believes Rehberg is padding his pocket.

A bill sponsored by Senator Jon Tester would stop congressional paychecks during a government shutdown. That bill has passed the senate.
