Wyoming's unemployment rate edged slightly downward from 5.8 percent in September to 5.7 percent in October.

The state Department of Workforce Services says Wyoming's jobless rate has remained between 5.7 percent and 5.9 percent in each of the past five months.

It has decreased considerably from its October 2010 level of 6.6 percent and remained significantly lower than the current U.S. rate of 9 percent.

Teton County posted the highest unemployment rate last month at 7.8 percent, followed by Lincoln at 6.6 percent, Fremont at 6.2 percent and Sheridan and Laramie both at 6.1 percent.

The lowest unemployment rates occurred in Sublette at 2.8 percent, Albany at 3.9 percent and Campbell at 4 percent.
