World War II Honor Flight Veterans Face Arrest in Washington, D.C.
A group of World War II veterans on an honor flight visit to Washington D.C. on Tuesday, October 1, broke through barricades set up around the World War II memorial because of the government shutdown.
In a story published by Chris Delcamp on NorthwestOhio.com, veterans in wheelchairs would not be deterred from seeing the memorial dedicated to their service.
"The Germans and the Japanese couldn't contain them," said Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio Chairman Lee Armstrong. "They wanted to see their memorial."
