Woman Threatens to Kill Missoula Officers and Their Families
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On May 21, 2023, Missoula Police Department Officers responded to a report of an assault with a knife between two females at the Poverello Center.
When an officer arrived at the Poverello, she observed a female fleeing. The officer chased the female on foot through an alley and then the backyard of an apartment complex. The officer then found the suspect hiding behind a tree.
Suspect Threatens Officers
Other officers arrived and they were able to detain her. The woman was later identified as 24-year-old Kayce Zachariasen. According to court documents, Kayce was swearing at the officers and stated, “Honestly, I’m going to kill your families, honestly.”
She then tilted her head back and spit on another officer. The saliva landed on the left side of his face. Kayce then said, “you guys are trash and I can’t wait until you’re dead” and “I’m literally going to kill everyone you love and the people that made you. Your mom, your dad, your kids, your husbands, you wives. Everyone you love is going to be dead as soon as I get out of jail.”
Victim Explains What Happened
An officer returned to the Poverello and spoke to the victim, Jane Doe. Doe said she knew the suspect as Kayce Zachariasen who was a Poverello Center resident, but they are not friends and they had not communicated before.
Doe said she was near the back door when Kayce approached her and said, “turn around and walk the other way stupid dumb whore slut.” Doe said she was going to tell staff and then Kayce said, “you’re a f*****g rat, you must want me to f**k you up, you must be retarded.”
Kayce then pointed a knife at Doe’s chest. Doe said she thought the knife was approximately 12 inches away. Doe also said she thought Kayce would jump her or cut her and that her fear was a 10 on a scale of 10. Surveillance video shows Kayce pulling and pointing a knife at Doe, but farther away than Doe thought.
Court documents indicate the knife was not found on Kayce and is believed to have been disposed of prior to her arrest. Kayce is currently being charged with felony assault with a weapon, felony threats/improper influence in official and political matters, and felony tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. This case is being filed direct to District Court.
