Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On March 4, 2023, Missoula Police Department Officers responded to a gas station located in the 400 block of Russell Street. An officer contacted a male who stated that he had been driving behind the car occupied by 72-year-old Doris Conley when she abruptly stopped and almost caused an accident.

Conley pulled into the parking lot and parked. The male was already planning on going to the gas station to purchase a drink and also parked in the lot. The male said Conley yelled at him when he went into the store. When he exited the store, he saw Conley hitting his vehicle with a pipe.

He approached her to make her stop. She turned toward him, raised the pipe, and attempted to hit him with it. The male ripped the pipe from her hand and said he was worried she would have done serious injury to him if she had managed to hit him in the head with the pipe.

Once disarmed, Conley continued to grab at the male’s clothing before getting in her car and attempting to leave. However, she was stopped by the arrival of officers.

According to court documents, a witness said she saw Conley hit the male’s truck with a pipe and also attempted to hit the male with it.

An officer spoke to Conley who stated that the male had been following her closely and almost hit her before she turned into the gas station. She said she was confronted by the male and said he “got in my face.” Court documents indicate Conley said that people who get into her face “usually pay for it because I don’t have no patience for young, punk a**holes.”

Conley admitted to retrieving a metal “bar” that she carries for personal safety from her car, but she denied striking the car or swinging it at the male. The bar, collected by officers, was a metal pipe weighing about 5 pounds and was about 2 feet in length. An officer formed the opinion that, due to the length and weight, the bar could have easily been capable of causing serious bodily injury or death.

Conley is currently being charged with felony assault with a weapon.
